• Vicki Newman

Below are a few mental ramblings that may give an insight into the life and times of Vicki Newman.

  • Vicki has been a member of the Jellybean family for nearly 13 years. Originally joined the band in 1997, whilst the disco era was making a comeback, including the sequence and pvc costumes. OMG! From 2002- 2005, Vick moved overseas and upon return unexpectedly slotted back in with the boys.

Before life with Jellybean, Miss Vick studied Performing Arts out at Ballarat Uni and worked with 2 original Melbourne based bands, "Stooge" and "Porcelain Jane". Highlights with those bands were supporting Boxing Tostados and Gian and appearing on AusMusics Fresh Tracks CD which featured on independent radio stations.

  • After Uni Miss Vick also worked for Storybook Theatre Company before heading into the retail clothing industry. And had to choose on the very first day of managing in retail to keep the job OR to be one of that years entrants on JJJ"s UnEarthed competition with "Porcelain Jane". JJJ's UnEarthed comp is how Missy Higgins and heaps of other Aussie artists have been discovered. Well I was very young and STUPID and chose the first choice of course and the rest is history. C'est la vie!

  • It was fate and I was really happy that I found Jellybean through an ad in the Ballarat Courier. Mr. Paul and Mr. Geoff were at my first audition and I sang "I Will Survive" and I think Paul made me harmonise to "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?" Ha ha. I literally did want to, for making me have to do that song of all choices! No, not really. The rest is history and I'm really thankful to be still on the Jellybean rollercoaster ride, having a ball and singing my guts out.
